Diorvsyou is in a particularly weird situation… From being one of the premier faces of the hottest collective in rap right now, ØWAY, an Atlanta-born rap group with co-signs from the likes of Young Thug, Playboi Carti, NBA YoungBoy, and many more. It is undeniable that they have dominated the rap scene recently, with members such as Tezzus, diamond*, and Pz’ being the frontrunners of the collective, leading the way for mainstream success; however, there is a man who once sat 7th in the ranks of popularity amongst the sizeable 12 members, who is argued by fans that the numbers such as streams and followers don’t do him enough justice for how talented and skilled he is.
Meet Diorvsyou, born Dylan Uredi on April 26, 2001. He was born in Nigeria and resided there until the age of 3, when his family decided to pack up and move to the United States, specifically Atlanta, Georgia, then at the age of 6 moving to Houston, Texas until again relocating, however he ended back in his home of Nigeria at the age of 9 up till the 8th grade when he finally came back to his previous residency in Atlanta. Dior’s family, like a lot of other immigrant families, held a more traditional-esque mindset when it came to the way they lived their lives and especially on how they raised their children. Pushing the young Dylan into a more conventional route with his life, heavily into academics, and reaching the end goal of having a high-paying job just like his older brother, who is an engineer, although Dylan had other plans for his life. Growing up, Dylan always showed massive and immense interest in the realm of music. During his 2nd stint living in Nigeria, he started performing in talent shows, showcasing music prowess, notably singing Lil Wayne’s music acapella style. The gift was there and shown, and said gift, alongside his interest, stayed with him all his life.
Fast forward to where we are today; Dior is at his highest point yet in his career, releasing 5 studio albums since 2023, with his most recent album “Pre Game” released earlier this year; the sky is the limit for Diorvsyou, achieving co-signs from the likes of Kanye West, now known as “Ye,” Ian Connor, a very influential figure in the realm of music and fashion, and many others. From a novice view, only looking at his achievements, it would be very confusing as to why he was not one of the most popular in his previously aforementioned group ØWAY; however, even with all the co-signs, consistent drops, combined with his rocketing value, his career is plagued with drama not only from the start, but even up until now. If you listen to Dior’s music, there is an undeniable comparison to Atlanta-made Opium (Playboi Carti’s record label) – signee Destroy Lonely. The biggest comparison between these two is solely due to the fact that they sound the same vocally. Having said that, in my underground music aficionado opinion, backed up by others throughout the space of the underground, the drama stems because Dior knew that they sounded the same, so during his “toddlerhood stage” of his music, it became apparent that he took a lot of what made Destroy Lonely popular and used it to his advantage. Various congruities, e.g., his flow, lyricism, production choices, etc., those choices posed the consensus idea that Dior was merely a Destroy Lonely clone. Although evolving his once “clone-like sound,” now branching into a more individual, well-rounded composition, he has never escaped the clone-like allegations. So much so that back in December of 2025, after an ongoing beef between Tezzus and another rapper in the underground, Nine Vicious, which involved other members of ØWAY including Dior, somehow wrapped Destroy Lonely in after an ØWAY affiliate sent out shots calling him “scary as hell,” therefore leading Destroy Lonely to send out a barrage of tweets. In one of the tweets, he directly calls Dior a clone, saying, “Ur friends with n * * * *s who clone me.” With Destroy Lonely saying this, it only heightens the idea that Dior is a clone; even with his evolving, separate sound, it seems like the presence of Destroy Lonely and the clone allegations will never leave him, even with how hard he tries.
Although his drama with Destroy Lonely and the clone allegations definitely painted an incorrect portrait of who he is today, it only brought more eyes to his music and didn’t hinder his career; however, this isn’t his only piece of controversy: his falling out with ØWAY. Unlike his previously mentioned controversy, this falling out with ØWAY has monumentally shifted his career and how he approaches the future. To know why he was kicked out of ØWAY, you need to go back to when Dior was around 17–18 years old. Back in 2019, Dior was brought in and questioned by the police about a homicide investigation; although he was not involved with the homicide directly, he was questioned by the police because he was around the individuals involved with the homicide and was to provide intel. Whilst helping the police with their investigation, Dior identified all the individuals involved in the homicide, also explaining the context of the homicide, and gave information for whatever the police asked him about. Due to this event, it is presumed that’s why he had his very public falling out with the collective, even going as far as to diss them during his Rolling Loud set. However, in my personal opinion, I believe that ØWAY knew about his police encounter and stayed silent, but there was another issue internally that we don’t know about that happened before the court documents even got leaked — and my biggest piece of evidence for this is that Dior was not a part of the Tezzus and diamond*s collab album UY Scuti Bøyz, which was released in April of 2026, a month before the documents had gotten leaked and the whole falling out. Most likely, in my opinion, the core issue at hand, which resulted in leaking his court documents, is the result of Dior messing with another ØWAY member’s girl, and they never mentioned the fact of this because it would look bad on the collective and the individual member. Nevertheless, this is just a hypothesis with no credibility; however, this doesn’t change what actually happened in front of the public eye.
Steering away from all his controversies and now speaking of Diorvsyou in the present moment, he is in a very complicated situation. At the point in time, he was publicly kicked out of ØWAY; ØWAY had just had their coming-out party to the mainstream masses with the success of the UY Scuti Bøyz album, being as popular as they have ever been, even having the lesser-known members who were also featured on the album ride the success; it only seemed up from there for the collective. And due to the success of the collective is what I believe to be the reason why Dior is in a sort of purgatory-like state with his career, which could be the reason for his downfall. The problem he is facing right now is that he is attached to the collective but not attached to the people inside of the collective; he is attached to the ØWAY banner. The ØWAY name — we saw this a lot during the latter end of the 2010s, where former boy band and girl band members would leave their groups and start a solo career; however, for most, they never reached the success they once had, living in the shadow of their previous success.
If I were Diorvsyou, I would analyze the artists that were able to leave successfully and forge solo careers of their own. Take, for example, Zayn and Harry from One Direction. Let’s start with Zayn. Less than a year after leaving “1D,” he signed to RCA Records and, quickly after that, released his debut album Mind of Mine, led by the highly acclaimed single “Pillowtalk.” Both the album and single reached number 1 on multiple charts across many different countries, most importantly the US and UK, making Zayn the first ever British male artist to debut at number 1 in both the UK and the US with a debut single and album. But to look at the success he produced, you need to look at what he did differently that separated him from his past, creating a whole new persona stripped of the characteristics attached to him as a 1D member. Zayn concocted Mind of Mine to be the direct opposite of what made 1D so popular; unlike the joyful pop sound 1D cultivated, Mind of Mine is characterized by its dark, moody aphrodisiac sound, which Zayn encapsulated to its fullest extent not only with the music but also with things such as his aesthetic, seen rocking dark colors alongside sensual clothing and also, but not limited to, the cover art as well, depicting a younger Zayn covered with tattoos behind a dark background. Zayn shifted the public perception of himself to the extreme, leaving no remnants of 1D in anything that he did, leaving fans and media alike forgetting about his past and waiting for what he would do next. Now we look at Harry Styles; Harry, like Zayn, switched his sound and look entirely. Harry’s first solo album, self-titled Harry Styles, was a UK rock-influenced album drawing on the likes of Queen, Elton John, and the Beatles, which also reached Billboard success across multiple countries. But what Harry did, which Zayn didn’t do, was that he didn’t only stick to music. Harry later appeared in films, making his feature film debut as a soldier in Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk in 2017 and later starring in films like Don’t Worry Darling and My Policeman. He also pursued becoming a fashion mogul, most notably appearing on the front page of Vogue confidently rocking a skirt, defying traditional gender norms. What Zayn and Harry did alike is that they completely reinvented themselves. Zayn became a modern-day sex symbol while also being a musical mastermind, and Harry became a mogul in all facets of entertainment by killing the version that made them popular at the beginning of their respective careers and achieving great things in their separate endeavors, which in turn led them to have the longevity that many others tried and failed to grasp.
Diorvsyou needs to take what they’ve done in their careers and now apply it to his own. It will be challenging trying to reinvent himself because after his falling out with ØWAY, a lot of his networking abilities and his opportunities are closed, but the underground isn’t run by ØWAY; they aren’t a mafia that holds tremendous power. There are still great artists in the underground, big and small, who would be delighted to work with him. That being said, if I were Diorvsyou, this is what I would do to break out of the purgatory that he is in right now. First off, I am firing my management. I am sure that his management is all in on him and trying to see him succeed; however, he is under the same management as another ØWAY member in Sk8star, though they still seem to be friends. Just the idea of being under the same management as someone whose group despises you is very unpleasant, and if you want to break away from ØWAY, you need to do it by all means possible. I am not too sure who he would hire next, though I am confident that with his Ye connection, he can find somebody or go to someone else in the underground/mainstream that is willing to take him under their banner. Secondly, I’m taking a shift, changing my sound just a tad bit. Dior isn’t a Zayn or a Harry level of popularity, so an extreme change of his music will ultimately make him end up like Yeat, where yeah, your music can end up being liked by some, but you end up losing a lot of your core fanbase and take a dip in your popularity by doing that, ending up as a what if? What if Yeat kept the same sound? What if Yeat did this? What if Yeat did that? Yeah, he could have a successful rebrand, but at what cost is there to risk it? What he should do instead is try to get in with Internet Money Records; Internet Money peaked around the change of the decade; however, with prospects such as Baby Bartier bringing a new, refreshing sound, leading the comeback to success if Dior shifted to that jolly, Pi’erre Bourne sound, he brings something new and refreshing whilst keeping his fanbase. If Internet Money is willing to sign Dior, it would be in his best interest to buy out of his current record deal and make the switch to an up-and-coming veteran label with tons of promise and connections. Although I’ve only listed two things, the two things I have just mentioned are the two most important and are what he needs to do as soon as possible to cultivate extreme success and leave his drama-ridden shadow.
Diorvsyou is an interesting piece of the underground puzzle that shows how detrimental drama and controversy can be to an artist, even with how talented they are. And by no means am I saying that Dior is a disappointment; he is amazingly skillful in his craft and has built a strong, loyal fanbase throughout his career. But if he wants to achieve success, which it seems that he is almost destined for, he needs to have a conversation with himself and question what he thinks is best for his career at this pivotal stage. In conclusion, if you had to ask me to summarize Diorvsyou’s career in one sentence, I would call it a series of unfortunate events.
